The Author of The Met Kiss
The Met Kiss is a powerful and heartfelt romance for the ages that has you rooting for head-over-heels love and a happily-ever-after. Hotel heiress Emily San Sebastian is overworked and unfulfilled. Running a resort hotel and reeling from the grief of losing her mother, she scarcely has time for romance—not that she is looking. A bad breakup has left her deeply hurt. Sean Paxton has committed his life to his job in finance in New York for many years, but recent life events have left him questioning everything and yearning for more meaningful experiences. Both Emily and Sean need a life change.
When Sean decides to take a vacation on the island of Saint Vincent, he is expecting relaxation and natural beauty, but he could never have predicted a chance encounter with Emily on a hidden Caribbean beach at sunset. They strike up an immediate friendship, but could it be more? They begin to share their worlds with one another. Work and adventure takes them back to New York City and ultimately to Europe, where they uncover a mystery from Emily’s mother’s past. Their feelings grow with each new experience, and they begin to open up to the possibilities of their new relationship, culminating at their attendance of The Met Gala. In the end, can something so new that seems so perfect withstand a shocking encounter that neither saw coming? Or will it shatter everything that they had hoped for?
Hi. My name is Daniel Lowden and I am not your typical romance novelist. I am a CMO (Chief Marketing Officer) of a cybersecurity company, am married and a father of two amazing children. I am also a romantic at heart and love intelligent and fun romance stories. During the time of COVID, I wanted to come out of the pandemic stronger, healthier and to have created something that I was completely uncomfortable with but felt compelled to do. I started to dream at night about the story of Emily and Sean and The Met Kiss in full color, movement by movement. It became such a powerful image in my mind that I decided to write down all that was in my head. Over an eight-day period during the Christmas holiday, I wrote 30,000 words to capture the main themes of the story. Working on weekends, I got the story in shape enough to be considered an initial draft of a manuscript that I then had reviewed by an editor who went to town making it more readable and grammatically correct (not my strong point). Over the next six months, I shared the manuscript with family and friends, including some who had been successful in writing and publishing their own work to get their feedback and make the story better. The Met Kiss is a story of friendship and love, something I felt compelled to write during such a difficult time. I felt that the world needed a great love story right now and hope you do, too. I want to thank my family and friends for their support during the writing of The Met Kiss. Many of you are a part of this story in some form as you have all played a key role in my life. It’s all about good health, family and friends.
My main goal of writing this book is to give those who read it a smile as the world needs a good love story right now. I hope you enjoy it.
A portion of the net proceeds from the sale of The Met Kiss will be donated to The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York City and to a STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) called Girls Who Code to help kids get access to these skills through educational programs.
